John Kerry is blessed with a very supportive and loving family: his wife, Teresa, his two daughters, Alex and Vanessa, and his three step-sons, John, Andre, and Christopher.
John Kerry's daughter, Alex, recently completed film school and Vanessa is studying to be a doctor. John admires their compassion, their dedication, and their visible love of life. And he is proud of them for being vitally involved in the world.
Alex and Vanessa have learned important lessons from their father. John Kerry took his daughters to Vietnam when they were teenagers to help them understand what he had lived through and to teach them about the world. And whether they are out on the campaign trail or sitting around the dinner table, they're always sharing ideas and opinions.
And sometimes they poke fun at him, too. Like the time he came out in the middle of summer wearing a full-piece wetsuit and Hawaiian shorts. But even Alex and Vanessa will admit, you have to love someone who learns to snowboard at 55 and plays his guitar on the campaign bus.
John Kerry's wife, Teresa, is not just the love of his life, but a smart, elegant, passionate woman who is a source of strength for him. They make a point, no matter how hectic their schedule is, to find time for one another, to have dinner together, walk on the beach, watch a movie, or co-solve a crossword puzzle.
Teresa is a woman of extraordinary ability, experience, and accomplishment. She has done extensive philanthropic work, helping to find solutions to many of our nation's most pressing challenges. Today she continues as a leader in helping our nation address issues, such as protecting the environment, human rights and the rights of women. She is also a passionate advocate for children, education, health care and the arts.
Imagine what we can accomplish together.
