Deep in the Heart of Texas

Road Report from Ted Chiodo:

10-27-2006: As he travels around the U.S., John Kerry is helping Democratic candidates up and down the ticket. In Austin, Texas, we flew in to work for Chris Bell, the Democratic candidate for Governor. <!-more-> 10-27txbell6jkcbpress.jpg We arrived in Austin to a balmy 71 degrees and sunny skies. Chris met John on the sidewalk outside the press conference, and the two Democrats walked through the lobby and to the elevator. The room was packed with reporters and cameras who were all jostling for a good shot.

Afterwards, we all walked across the street to make an appearance at a Chris Bell fundraiser.

On our way there, we were intercepted by some trick-or-treaters who stopped to have their pictures taken. One young Texan flashed the hook’em horns sign to the camera!

Austin is a blast so far.

Mahalo!

Great picture of JK with the little tiger!

It is also wonderful to see JK venture into the deep red part of America supporting more Democratic candidates.

OMG, the photo of the little girl with the Senator is priceless.
Best of luck to Chris Bell.  Texas would look mighty purty in blue.

Thanks for pointing out the hook-‘em horns reference, Ted. The hidden Rovian operatives in the audience will undoubtedly try to spin that pic on the Sunday talk shows as proof that Senator Kerry is evil to the core, because there he is with a little kid in his arms making the sign of Satan and all… *ahem*

From earlier thread:

If I may put in a personal appeal for our local candidate, please consider voting for Tammy Duckworth (IL-6) when the “polls” open up November 1. She has received considerable financial support from JK, but she is losing in our district. As popular as she is with many of you, it is worth knowing she is getting creamed in T.V. ads in our district. The Republican candidate has effectively moved the debate from Iraq to taxes and immigration (the two ideal Republican talking points). When I phone bank, I am constantly asked about these two issues. The RNCC has bombed us with T.V ads in a 10 to 1 ratio. Duckworth has had so few ads on T.V, it is impossible for voters to really know that her opponent is lying about her position.

Send help and vote for Duckworth.

I, too, have a shameless appeal for a candidate that was late to the race that seemed unwinnable, and the opponent, Bush lap-dog, Vito Fosella, unbeatable.

Some scandals and decent reporting later, our cong. candidate, who is decent and smart, suddenly seems to have a chance in a race that was upgraded from (R) sure thing to leaning.

We have lever machines and could actually vote Steve Harrison in for a win. He appeared on Hardball last week, and suddenly hound dog Bubba will do a robo call on his behalf.

If you have some extra, this is a good opportunity for a win. http://www.harrison06.com

I like him.

He is such a kid magnet isn’t he. I was thinking the same thing. And also had no clue about hook’em horns.
