Encoding Video from National Press Club

As I write, my laptop is compressing a very large .mov file of Senator Kerry’s speech on energy policy at the National Press Club. I hope to upload it to our server later this afternoon. I’ll place the link in a subsequent blog post. Please check back if you missed the speech or if you discover that your DVR recorded instead the “House Homeland Security Committee Hearing on Tuberculosis Incident.”

Meanwhile, here’s a sample of the coverage from Reuters and Massachusetts’ own Springfield Republican.

Incidentally, I’m new. I work with Brian, Erin and Gil on the web team in the campaign office in Boston. We watched the speech together on Gil’s computer via c-span.org and it reminded us why we chose to work here. As if we needed it.

The speech at higher resolution than the C-SPAN link above.

The question and answer portion at higher resolution than the C-SPAN link above.

Welcome, Dave!

I could watch that speech again.  The Senator’s answer to the question on Iraq is the most comprehensive and rational I’ve heard.  Certainly worth another listen.

Do you know if there’s a transcript?  I’ve read the prepared speech, but he tends to go off script quite a bit.

Again, welcome.  It’s nice to have you here.

Yesterday’s performance was particularly brilliant, and motivating.

Welcome aboard…

That speech was amazing, but nowhere near as amazing as the question and answer part. Every answer he gave was incredibly detailed, but concise. He was very candid and open. The only negative - that I was not watching a President Kerry news conference. No President since Kennedy comes close on all these counts.

Though the policy changes he would have made are of course more important, reminds me that we could have had a President this honest, candid, and brilliant. The good side is that we all know what a powerful voice of truth we have with Senator Kerry in the Senate.

It was a great speech.  I agree that the Q and A was extraordinary...as always. The Senator really shines when answering those questions. smile

...and WELCOME, Dave!
