Kerry on Chris Wallace on Sunday; more New Hampshire coverage - UPDATED
The text of John Kerry’s rousing speech at last night’s Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner in New Hampshire is up on the website now. C-Span will be featuring this speech on its “On the Road to the White House” show on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm, along with a speech by former NYC mayor Rudy Guiliani.
Thanks to New Hampshire blogger Miss Laura, who talked with John on Friday afternoon before the Jefferson-Jackson speech, and posted on her Blue Granite blog, which covers New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional district, where Democratic candidate Paul Hodes is threatening to send Republican Congressman and Bush rubber stamp Charlie Bass back home to New Hampshire. And thanks also to blogger Taylor Marsh, who spoke with John about the war in Iraq on Thursday, and noted that “Kerry also reads the blogs, loves them and went out of his way to thank me, personally, for the work I do, but also made a point of sending the same to others. It was sincere.”
If you want to see John Kerry in action on TV on Sunday, tune in to the Chris Wallace “Fox News Sunday” show at 6 pm EDT. John will be talking with Chris about national security.

UPDATE: Video of JK’s speech is now available in Windows Media Player format—Quicktime format is on its way.

Wowzers, sure sounds like tomorrow will be a red-letter day for JK fans with television sets. I’m particularly looking forward to the Chris Wallace segment—it’ll be interesting to observe the two men’s body language, to see if either shows any post-political awareness of Wallace’s recent dust-up with Battlin’ Bill C. physcially as well as verbally.
it’s must-see teevee fer sher,
Otter
This is all great stuff, the more JK exposure, the more people will see what a great Commander and Chief he will make. I love the fact that the righties who watch fox will get to hear what the true solution to Iraq is. Keep it up Sir.
JK 2008! BANK ON IT!!!
What I find interesting is the concerted effort that JK is making to reach out to bloggers. If you follow the links to MissLaura’s Blue Granite blog and to Taylor Marsh’s blog, they both mention JK reaching out to bloggers.
Today one of our young Vets running for Congress Patrick Murphy of PA.‘s 8th congressional district gave the Democratic radio response to George Bush’s weekly same old rhetoric radio address.
You can listen here:

Patrick is one of our fighting vets and earlier this month his opponent Michael Fitzpatrick, a man who never wore the uniform attempted to swift boat Patrick. Well John Kerry was there for him immediately.
October 6, 2006 (Levittown, Pennsylvania)
John Kerry: “Mike Fitzpatrick is Engaged in the Lowest Form of Smear”
Levittown, PA – Senator John Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, released the following statement on Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick’s attempt to “swiftboat” the military record of Patrick Murphy:
“I won’t stand for the ‘swift boating’ of Patrick Murphy. It disgusts me that a congressman who has never worn the uniform of our country stands there in silence as a veteran home from Iraq has his service disparaged.
“No one who has ever served would tolerate this kind of slander about a fellow veteran. In 2000, George Bush stood in silence while John McCain’s service was questioned. It was wrong then, it is wrong now for Mike Fitzpatrick to engage in the same double-speak. What is it these Republicans who never served have against Democrats who did?
“I have news for Mike Fitzpatrick. In war, bullets don’t differentiate between lawyers and medics, enlisted men and officers.
“You know why Mike Fitzpatrick is engaged in the lowest form of smear and fear politics? Because he’s afraid of actually debating Patrick Murphy about the disastrous war in Iraq. He’s afraid to debate a veteran who lives and breathes the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor. He’s terrified of actually leveling with the American people about the way the administration misled America into war, and admitting their stay the course slogans just guarantee more Americans die for a stand still and lose strategy.
“Mike Fitzpatrick should finally find the courage to debate the real issue instead of cowardly having his surrogates try to destroy anyone who speaks truth to power. It’s unacceptable to do this to any leader of any party anywhere in our country.”

After you listen , please donate to his fight. We need him so badly in the 110th Congress.
Thank you John Kerry for your support of Darcy Burner, who is running for Congress in Washington state against Dave Reichert, Bush rubber stamper. I have been making calls for her & she is live blogging at Kos. Yay!
Here’s to the successful interaction between the blogosphere & the ground campaigns, getting better every election.
The video version is now available according to the update above—at least the Windows Media Player version, Quicktime is on its way per the note.

He’s actually been doing this for some time now. Months ago (April I believe) he spent some time on the phone with RJ Eskow who posted about it on the HuffPo. And in June he met with several L.A. area bloggers including myself and RJ Eskow and that was hugely successful and got quite a bit of coverage in from the bloggers who attended.
In Boston area, Fox News Sunday is also on the LOCAL Fox station (channel 25, cable 13 in most areas) at 10 am.
Local Fox stations in other cities may have similar arrangements.
wow nice to know people on here. Have met John Kerry several times myself (& his wife) and each time, he expressed gratefulness to bloggers. Teresa was reading the very first blog entries, back in the day.
I think it’s taken some time to learn how to really coordinate the ground campaigns with the blogosphere, but it seems to be really happening. Loving watching donations stack up for various candidates via the internet, and seeing people write both about issues, blogs & their work on the ground such as with phone banks.
John is right to question what is going on in Afghanistan - the British are having to use civilian helicopters, and the Canadians are fighting the Taleban in marijuana forests.

It appears Utah Republican Chris Cannon Is in trouble for taking laundered money….
“This site will now expose Congressman Christopher Cannon and his brother Joseph Cannon for criminal acts, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and a host of other behaviors which will result in resignation and or criminal conviction:”
[Edited for length]
It seems that Cannon was the darling child of the auto/home insurance industry! The question is, how much would a billionaire pay to keep himself out of jail? How much would a Congressman and Republican leader charge to shut down a criminal investigation.
This is just the beginning. We are not going to give anyone a chance to shut this one down. This is just a simple apetizer. DID YOU GET THAT JOE CANNON AND YOUR FRIENDS AT THE DESERET NEWS? Good luck shutting this story up! We are going National on this one baby! Utah will be the last place that sees the entire story!!!!

[Editor’s note: a brief description of your report and a valid link would be more useful.]
Thanks for the info. I’ll be sure to set up the DVR so I can catch the Wallace interview.
Greetings from Vienna!
The croissants are to die for and I plan to spend the day trying out the rest of the Viennese pastry family, so I won’t be able to see JK on Fox. They don’t get Fox here, but they DO get real news and it’s not good.
Aside from the oh-so-satisfying stories about Republican corruption (and didn’t WE all know this anyway?), Iraq is worse, Iran is coming, and North Korea is about as tense as it can be.
(Did you all know we have been sending missiles towards Korea for some time now? Talk about being provocative…) (Here’s a link to a DCP story in which I gave Sen. Dodd some information about this: http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/archives/2006/07/_tobey_and_sen.html)
Still, I am happy to come here and read up on how well JK and his band of bloggers are carrying the truth to the powers. It is still missionary work, even over here in Old Europe, because folks believe that there is not much dissent in the US these days. I am happy tpo report otherwise and to carry the news that JK is speaking up and out.
Frankly, folks are still dubious about him, but I sense that the deep ache and disappontment in 2004 is really directed at the Dems and the voters and not really at him. I think that once they see the focused and clear JK we see, they will begin to hope again. It is up to US to make sure those fragile hopes are realized.
Heading back to DC tomorrow and then to SoCal for another conference, but gearing up for the work ahead.
I just saw the interview and it was a great interview.
A reproach, however, senator. Dot get clobbered into the ” Democrats do not want you” BS arguments that Chris Wallace and too many parrots of the DC consultants make. The answer of the question is an easy one that each of your supporters can give you:
I will run because (or if) I can offer a better solution to the problems of this country.
And it should come as a surprise to nobody I know that I think it is the case, so, yes, Senator, dont listen to the DC conventionnal wisdom.
Run for 08 and make the case why you would be the best president.
Sen. Kerry’s interview was wonderful! Knowledgeable, firm, handling the alien territory with great (dare I say, presidential ) style and aplomb. Do not miss this!
Fre, good suggestion above (9:47 am). But not to fear. One of the coolest things about John Kerry, at least since I’ve been watching closely, is that he NEVER bases political decisions on the conventional wisdom, apparently recognizing that the conventional wisdom is rarely wise, especially when it comes to political prognostication by Democrats whose judgment has been clouded by insecurity and confusion about their multiple presidential losses since 1980.
Mr. Kerry,
Stop defending yourself for adjusting your thinking as though you did something wrong. The opposition claims that you “flip flop” on the issues while they are “steadfast and resolved.” Who, in their right mind, holds onto views simply because those views have been stated previously? That would pre-suppose that our decisions are always correct. An unwillingness to change a position in light of new and changing conditions is less “steadfast” than it is plain-old stubbornness. That is why we are in the bind we are in. Take the offensive—describe this fundamental, cognitive-functional difference. Attack them for the stubbornness that has brought us to our deadly predicament in Iraq.
Firm, expert and clear in your answers, Senator, and appropriately non-partisan, as always in your foreign policy solutions. Grateful for the time and latitude given until the intended Fox traps.
Amazingly, Wallace tried to draw your criticism of the unilateral waging of pre-emptive war as somehow at odds with now wanting bi-lateral, one to one talks of negotiation with North Korea?
Agree that your rationale for possibly running again needs to be crisper, briefer and less apologetic. With that great smile we’ve been seeing more lately.
Pay no attention to the hacks, DC consultants of mixed loyalty, or the ever irresponsible gotcha media.
I really do wish the dirty tricks and electronic vote anomalies were something you could use. Of the 13 states that had vote shifts, by all the vendors, 90% were Kerry to Bush.
When is a glitch not a glitch, or poll worker error.
Does everyone know there is a manual capability with touchscreens, where people can multiple vote, with only a soft beep? Kind of explains those states with so many more votes than people.
Thank you for all your efforts to get paper ballots, and backup plans, before the certain chaos coming November.
Paper is still an uphill effort in New York, even now, the last state to become HAVA compliant. The decisions are being made by the Boards of Elections, least qualified to make the technological decisions, and unwilling to do whatever hard work it takes for transparent and fair elections.
We also have bi-partisan leadership with our Mayor Bloomberg, and soon to be governor, Eliot Spitzer, who both believe in most things corporate, not objecting to the privatization that is so dangerous in this application.
Please call your friend, Eliot, and talk to him about the repercussions of New York going electronic. Our paper trail has no legal basis to be effective; only our paper ballot is the legal intent of the voter available for a recount.
I’ve been working 24/7 to get this right, hopefully in time for your 08 run.
Before I end this run-on missive, a major thank you for your efforts to get Democrats elected.
I just read the transcript, and Senator Kerry did a great job. If he sounded apologetic, I agree with the other posters that he has nothing to apologize for with regard to running again. Reading his answers to the 2008 questions, I thought they were good because they pointed to the hypocrisy of such questions.
Senator Kerry, you were the right person for the job in 2004 and you’re a better person (the best person, IMO) for the job in 2008.
Great interview with JK on Fox Sunday. Incase you missed it, it’s available here.
JK’s presence was excellent and his answers crisp and to the point. However, one thing that I suspect will become an issue for Dems is the concession. Many don’t understand, or have been influenced by Mark Crispen Miller, that at that time there was absolutely no way that the election could have been called for Senator Kerry.
I absolutely believe the election was stolen and that Blackwell and others, not only stole the election, but did everything in their power to limit the number of votes for Senator Kerry.
There is no doubt in my mind that the question about timing of the concession will come up during the next run (and I certainly hope there is another run). I have heard people say that if Senator Kerry had to do it all over again, he would not have conceded as quickly. I look at it differently. I respect the information that the campaign was giving Senator Kerry and his decision to keep the process from becoming another national seizure. Even today, there is no proof that Senator Kerry received more votes, but there is enough doubt about the process to inflame Democrats. It makes me think that it is a pure Rovian scheme to create havoc amongst the Democrats.
John Kerry, You now have awakened me. Thank You! I send you my gratitude, with my love of life revived, after seeing your speech tonight. I am so thrilled to see your invigoration about the “Real” issues. Use the “4th Class” well, even more than the Rovian stamp lickers did with the religious right and their flock. Even they are hurt and need our support now. Get your word out, you are right on. And get louder, show your anger, it strengthens US! We are all with you. You hit the “nail on the head” about the lies and what needs to be a platform. Economy, health care, jobs, energy, should be part of the Commonwealth. Ecology of the environment is essential for the world to survive. The “King has no clothes on.” I wish you and your family well in the White House in 2008. We shall see that and restructured Congess in about 25 days!

Oh, how many Rovian tricks do we have to ponder? I think this is a good one! Eventually someone will decide this is the same as the ‘blame Clinton’ mindset. We know better.
Senator, the interviews are getting quite amazing, especially on FOX Fable News…
I echo Marjorie’s comment at 12:27. Wallace made the stupid assertion that advocating for unilateral action in negotiations with NK and insisting on multilateral action in the invasion of Iraq is having it both ways. Which, according to Wallace, ‘you can’t have’.
This is such a no-brainer you wonder how Wallace can say it out loud.
Excellent appearance on FOX news! Take the argument to their camp, where viewers most need to hear the truth spoken plainly and clearly. It’s Sen. Kerry’s ability to talk to the other side that really inspires me. Because that’s a quality that a president needs—and that the current administration seriously lacks. JK revealed his brilliant mind once more—I hope it caused a few regretted votes among those who voted against him.
