Putting Their Lives on the Line

Road Report from Ted Chiodo:

Wednesday, 10-18-2006

10-18micopsmemorial3jkunveiling.jpg John Kerry traveled with Gov. Granholm today in Michigan. Our first stop of the day was a dedication of the site of the Michigan law enforcement memorial. The site was just outside Capital Park, next to the Hall of Justice in Lansing, Michigan.  John Kerry talked for about 10 minutes on the sacrifice of officers who put their lives on the line each day they go to work.  That the sort of self sacrifice and bravery that law enforcement officers show every day is what American values really are. Gov. Granholm then thanked the officers and dedicated the site to all those officers who gave their lives in the line of duty for the great state of Michigan.

Stay tuned for the road post and video.

Thanks for honoring the sacrifices and dedication of our fire fighters and law enforcement personnel, Senator. While most people didn’t seem to pay much attention to them anymore until the horrors of the 9/11 attacks thrust them into center stage, our police officers and fire fighters have always laid their lives on the line for us and they deserve our continued respect and recognition.

Whether it’s putting more cops on the street, or honoring their commitments with benefits, John Kerry has been there.

He has always understood public service, his own, and that of our fine firefighters and police.

Thank you, Senator.

Thank you for this. One of my brothers is a police officer with more than 25 years on the force. I appreciate your willingness to fight for the cops and the fire fighters and all the other people that work to keep us safe.
