Tip o’ the Hat
When a flurry of misinformation flashed around the progressive blogosphere from Hotline’s post about a certain anonymously-posted website, truth-telling bloggers stepped up to set the record straight. Here’s what two blogs in particular had to say in response:
Taylor Marsh spoke for many of us when she said:
People need to do more than just pull out one number and run with it. It’s damaging to us all, but most especially to someone who is working his ass off in this cycle, regardless if you like or hate John Kerry.
As for whatever money he might or might not have in his own coffers, I think the fundraising above shows his willingness to work for the party, his colleagues and Democratic hopefuls. I also have to bluntly ask why anyone should be made to drain his or her political coffers dry when they’re working balls to the walls day in and day out in a given election cycle. Is the man supposed to give every last dime and be left with nothing going forward? Again, it’s not like he’s sitting on his ass watching the days tick by until this is all over.
What fund-raising, you might ask?
<!-more->
Well, Taylor presents the best summary we’ve seen of just how much JK has done to make sure that we have a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress come election day. Be sure to check it out.
Taylor concluded:
Again, our top Democratic Party politicians owe the party a lot, especially when they have the clout to give it, but whether we’re talking about Hillary Clinton or John Kerry or Joe Biden, they do not owe anyone the gift of their own future, whatever path they might choose to take.
Pamela Leavey at The Democratic Daily also stepped up to the plate and made this point:
The truth is no one has done more for Democratic candidates in this election cycle than John Kerry (which Hotline alludes to but doesn’t give the full scoop) but evidently it’s still not enough as far as some are concerned. I find this curious because John Kerry was not sitting around dawdling months ago when success for Democrats appeared more like a fantasy than something attainable. No — he was out there working hard to raise money for Democratic candidates long before anyone else got the notion to get involved. He did not wait until this late stage in the campaign to pitch in and help like others have, because Kerry understands that “early money” counts the most and it is usually hardest to raise. Kerry’s team applied that rule of early support of Senate candidates on the top targeted Senate races.
and wound it up with this winner of a conclusion:
So let the chickenshits at HeyJohn.org come forward and tell us all who they are — because “No one has done more than John Kerry to support Democratic candidates”
Sounds like a certain senator we know!
So we’d like to tip our hats to Taylor Marsh, the Democratic Daily, and all the other online commentators who have taken pains to keep the truth flowing out there.
Our thanks to you all!

Great Job Dick,
Keep fighting the good fight day in and day out. Ilove the fact team Kerry is smacking down every piece crap that comes their way. Continue to stay true to the JK 08 motto of “never again”.
Great job, and kudos to pamela and Taylor Marsh.
Continue the great job and continue to fight back.
As a sparring match for worse innuendo to come maybe this flak attack was a blessing in disguise. I hope these people do not sleep well.
Gd job.
Nice work by Taylor, Pamela and everyone else who fought back the ridiculous claim that Sen Kerry is not doing enough.
Hey, John - Thank You!!!
This post deserves a link in this thread. Thank you, Taylor Marsh and TDD!
Excellent work by Taylor, Pamela and everyone.
Thank you Senator Kerry!
I love John and Teressa Kerry. I want them in the White House so badly.
Please tell them we still “have their backs”. Do not be discouraged by these attacks. The truth is on their side and the truth will win out.
Thank you Pamela and Taylor for fighting the good fight and for helping to set the record straight. You guys make me proud to be a Kerry supporter!
Senator Kerry, thank you for all your tireless efforts for our country. You are the best - forget the rest!
Pamela, Taylor, and all members of the johnkerry.com community, I’m so very grateful for your fighting spirit.
“Never Again!”
I am so glad that Taylor Marsh and the Dem Daily did these posts. The truth needs to get out there. As these very entries on this blog prove, no one is working harder to get a Democratic Congress elected in 2 1/2 weeks than John Kerry.
It’s great that so many truthtellers were on the blogs combating this misinformation so fast. That’s how it should be, a rapid response before the lie can be cemented in. Congratulations to all for fighting this so well and so quickly!
Thanks to Pamela, the Democratic Daily, Taylor Marsh and the many others who jumped on this….I watched it unfold and it was AMAZING how it was repudiated so quickly. If and when the time comes agin, this is the attitude and intensity we ALL need to rebuff the next round of swiftboating.
Chickenshit is the best way to describe it. The scumbags don’t even have the guts to take their medicine. My comment was in moderation forever.
Excellent posts by Taylor and Pamela! And “chickenshit” is exactly the word to describe those weasels who put that site up.
Just more typical scut-and-scum tactics from the party that’s going to have their asterisks handed to them on a blue plate in three weeks.
and there’s nothin’ special about ‘em either,
Otter
The support for Senator Kerry over this latest barrage of lies is incredible. Most of the posts have been supportive and the lies have been obliterated by the truth.
Taylor and KG have done wonders and so have many others who have worked hard to get the truth out there.
These cowards don’t say who they are but they claim to be Democrats. The tactic, however, seems more Rovian than something a Dem would do. Taking someone’s strong points and turning it against them kills two birds with one stone. Now where have we seen this strategy before? Perhaps this is the next generation of swiftboating?
There’s an excellent rebuttal also by RonK Seattle at dailykos. Assuming he has his facts straight, these points should be conveyed to people more strongly, imo:
In a follow-up post RonK notes he does not support another presidential run by JK, and as I remember, that sentiment has been reflected in other posts by him at dailykos. Which makes his defense here even more credible.
Checking in and up from SoCal, at a conference, and so happy to see the rapid response—great work all!!
DemDaily and Taylor Marsh jumping in with such clarity and efficiency—this is what we need to be doing. Now to get the msm to pay attention!
Any thoughts or creative ideas for that?
Sure. Pay them by the column inch, same as the Repos do.
