“You Are Incredible!”

Great news!

This morning, the johnkerry.com community will break our all-time email fundraising record for the year: in the last 48 hours, people on John Kerry’s email list have donated $900,000 to 4 Senate candidates in the most critical races in the country: Harold Ford, Jr. (TN), Jim Webb (VA), Claire McCaskill (MO), and Bob Menendez (NJ).

When we called John Kerry with the totals this morning, he sent along this message to thank everyone who’s pitching in to win back the Congress:

“You are incredible!  The story of what the johnkerry.com community has done over the last two years to win these mid term elections is one of best untold stories in politics.  You could’ve licked your wounds, you could’ve given up, but you kept fighting, you dug deeper, you got stronger — and now with it all on the line in the last 48 hours you contributed $900,000 to these must-win Senate races.  You’ve scared the hell out of Ken Mehlman and the Republicans!  Now it’s onwards.  Today I’m with Admiral Sestak and Patrick Murphy in Teresa’s home state of Pennsylvania, defending two veterans who will change the character of Congress.  Let’s go!”

Thank you Seantor Kerry for all the help you’ve done for Congressman Ford’s campaign.  As a TN voter it’s important that he gets this seat not only for TN but for the democratic party gaining control of the Senate.

Thank you Senator. I was more than happy to do my part and contribute to such a noble cause as taking back America. I appreciate the acknowledgement though. You rock, sir!

This blue voter in Missouri is grateful for all the help and attention paid to Claire McCaskill.

This state desperately needs the compassion and common sense exhibited by this remarkable woman and I’m positive throughout her upcoming Senate career she’ll prove to be an asset to the country as a whole.

Many thanks.  I’m sure the progressive voters in Tennessee, Virginia and New Jersey are heartened as well.

This is great!  I was a bit late donating (didn’t get to it until just now) so I have to add my thanks to everyone who beat me to it!  This really is incredible!

Senator,

I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to do so much, and I’m thrilled that you’ve been able to inspire so much out of us. Now I’m hoping that we can inspire something more out of you.

“Use It Or Lose It,” Senator. This is for all of our futures, and if you spend some of your own hard earned, we Democrats surely won’t forget it!

Thanks so much.

Your intentions are laudable, Andrew, but I’m afraid you’re a bit behind schedule on your news updates.

As has been documented to death here and elsewhere, Senator Kerry has already been way out front in campaigning for and raising funds for individual Democratic candidates in crucial House and Senate races across the country. He had also already given over a million dollars from his own campaign funds to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and another half a million dollars to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

And, of course, in just 48 hours his supporters recently raised close to another million dollars to support non-Kerry Democratic candidates in 2006. You know that, of course, since the details are in the header for this particular thread. But if you feel that is still not enough, here’s something else to add to the list:

As this Boston Globe article pointed out back on October 9, well before the ‘Use It Or Lose It’ campaign you mention had even been conceived of, “Kerry currently has four political committees with a combined $14 million cash on hand, but a portion of that will be pumped out to candidates or party committees in the crucial final weeks of the 2006 midterm elections.”

Senator Kerry had already planned to disburse even more of his own funds to other Democrats in the latter half of this month, and last Wednesday he continued following through on that promise by donating another $500,000 to the two committees in addition to his ongoing support of individual candidates in both House and Senate races.

The Boston Globe story on Wednesday’s contribution to the House and Senate campaign committees by Senator Kerry is informative; but you really should read Jane Hamsher’s gracious post about it over on her Firedoglake site, entitled “Stand Up Stuff From a Stand Up Guy.”

Stand Up Guy, indeed. Senator Kerry definitely has been and still is standing up for a full range of Democratic candidates for both House and Senate seats throughout this most critical of mid-term election seasons. I’m sure you can agree that he deserves credit for his direct contributions to the common cause along with his many indirect ones.

news we can all use,
