During service in our country's military, years as an activist for veterans and the environment, working as a prosecutor known for going after organized crime, and serving in government as a Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts and United States Senator, John Kerry has spent decades serving our country, and, as Massachusetts Democrats love to do, we threw a party!
On Monday, December 13th, 2010, thousands of people, some from as far away as California, gathered in Boston's beautiful Symphony Hall to celebrate John Kerry's 25 years of service in the United States Senate and 45 years of service to our country. Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops performed with James Taylor, Noel Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul, and Mary), and they were joined on stage by Governor Deval Patrick, filmmaker Ken Burns, and some of John Kerry's most steadfast friends: his crewmates from his naval service.
Even Santa showed up.
The audience was filled with other great Massachusetts leaders, from members of the state's Congressional delegation to the State Speaker to mayors from across the state. It was a great night, and we'd like to thank everyone who could share it with us.
Imagine what we can accomplish together.
